Pembridge Crescent, Notting Hill

Commissioned in 2008, Curtis Wood Architects design aimed to create a period mansard level over this late Georgian-style family home.

The additional roof zone provided two double bedrooms with family bathroom and plenty of additional storage space. The roof was finished in slate and lead, to sit sympathetically within the Kensington conservation area, and the lead dormers with timber sash windows followed the language of the existing building below.

The internal spaces were designed to be open plan modern bedroom areas, with contemporary frameless glass panels overhead to flood the interior with daylight. A new modern staircase connected the new bedroom level to the existing house below.
