Elmwood Road, Herne Hill
Curtis Wood Architects were commissioned in 2002 to undertake a full amalgamation of two converted flats, turning this Edwardian building back into a single substantial family dwelling.
The ground floor was dramatically reorganised to create a large family room to the rear, with kitchen, dining room and family zone as one free flowing space. The family room opened directly to the garden and a bespoke furniture element amalgamated the dining table with the timber island unit. The upper floors provided additional bedrooms and a re-organised modern family bathroom to serve this family of five.
The client managed the project through the construction phase with limited support from us, and achieved a fantastic and beautifully finished family home.
